Public private traffic information
Organisation: Be-Mobile and Flitsmeister
What do you do with NDW data? Why?
Be-Mobile is originally a Belgian service provider of traffic information that was founded in 2006 and has also been active in the Netherlands for several years together with subsidiary Flitsmeister. Be-Mobile combines the government data with Floating Car Data (FCD) obtained by itself and feedback from the Flitsmeister user community. In this way we can offer our customers the most up-to-date and reliable traffic information and distinguish ourselves from other providers.
Which data stream from NDW does Be-Mobile use?
Be-Mobile uses, among other things, the current traffic data (AVG) and the NDW data feed with current data about road works and closures, but also of the feed with the images on the matrix signs (think of speeds and red crosses) and bridge openings.
How do you process or apply NDW data? (how does it work?)
We combine the data from NDW with our own data, which comes from road users (Floating Car Data and feedback from Flitsmeister app users) to provide the most accurate information. We use the data from NDW to validate our own data and vice versa. In this way, Be-Mobile provides traffic information with the highest possible reliability and accuracy.
What is the service that in the end is delivered to the user of your service?
Be-Mobile supplies the traffic information to connected navigation systems of various car manufacturers. In addition, we supply traffic information to almost all commercial radio stations in the Netherlands, which use it in their traffic communications to listeners (under the name Flitsmeister). We also supply the information to a few radio stations, which send the information into the air via the RDS-TMC channel. RDS-TMC reports can be passed on, especially via older car radios or navigation systems; by means of a text on a display, an icon on the map, spoken message or a combination thereof. And of course Be-Mobile supplies the traffic information to 1.8 million users of the Flitsmeister app.
